kill

Some useful signals from kill command for different binaries

Maybe usefull to know which signal name is which number:

1   - HUP
9   - KILL
10  - USR1
12  - USR2

nginx

reload config

kill -HUP $PID

reopen log files

kill -HUP $PID

use new executable

The new executable should be put in place before executing the kill command.

kill -USR2 $PID

php-fpm

reload config

kill -USR2 $PID

dd

progress

kill -USR1 $PID
